"HOLiC is [one of my] favorite series, and while I have to admit I adore Watanuki's relationships with both his classmates it's always a little depressing to see how Watanuki and Himawari seem to get the shorter shrift in fandom." This is very true. I didn't want to see this fanlisting close because I feel that it is one of Watanuki's three most important relationships, and it's certainly been a life-changing friendship (and more?) for Himawari. Watching the two of them grow from cute girl and the boy who has a heartfelt but unconsidered crush on her to two friends who share secrets, joys, and the minutiae of their lives is one of the joys of following the series, which has probably the most lovely natural progressions of everyday lives that CLAMP has ever chronicled. As in my email to Crystal I am opting not to talk about the Japanes-language only chapters on this website, but if you've read them you know that things don't stop there . . . |
